Ventilation systems as an effective tool for control of radon daughter concentrations in mines
Description
To illustrate the effects of the design of the ventilation system on the control of radon daughter concentration, this paper review the gradual development of the ventilation system of the Director Mine in Newfoundland, Canada from the early years of its development up until its final years of operation. The actual design and operation of the ventilation system of a mine are the most significant tools for the control of radon daughter exposure to workers. Some conclusions which have general application for the design of the ventilation system of any mine with radon daughter occurrence are given
