The study of structural mutations in somatic cells of children living on radioactive contaminated areas of Kaluga district and exposed in utero as a result of Chernobyl accident

Description

The children in the number of 149 exposed in utero as a result of Chernobyl accident were examined in the course of long-term cytogenetic monitoring of Kaluga district of Russia carried out during 14 years. It was found that the frequency of dicentrics and centric rings - marker aberrations of radiation exposure - was higher than control level in 4-5 times. By means of FISH-method it was shown occurrence of stable chromosomal adjustments in 87% of exposed in utero children. (authors)
