The effect of hydrogen (deuterium) activation during the interaction with some transition metal surfaces

Description

The formation of active hydrogen molecules and atoms on the surface of hydride-forming transition metals and intermetallic compounds are examined. It is found that activated hydrogen exists in different forms: as excited molecules H2, hydrogen atoms and positive ions. Different methods -mass-spectrometry, gravimetry, gas chromatography, EPR and chemichromic detection - are used to investigate the hydrogen activation by LaNi5, Ti2Ni, Ti and Pd. (orig.)
