Even in COVID-19's pandemic trouble, as if it were completely unrelated, power companies are continuing to operate the reactors, and the National Regulation Authority (NRA) and Cabinet Office have given a tacit nod to it. The author (Mr. Satoshi Sato) provides the readers of this 'Science' magazine with the following materials to consider this serious problem and to find out the answer. The author thinks that in the situation where disaster control is difficult to be compatible with the operation of nuclear reactors, we should choose the shutdown of nuclear reactors in order to actively reduce the difficulty of dealing with disasters.
