On the evaluation of inhalation risk in uranium mines

  • 1. Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Bombay (India). Air Monitoring Section

Description

Methods and results of the measurements of unattached fraction and distribution of radon daughter aerosols in a controlled atmosphere using aerosols similar in behaviour and nature to those encountered in a uranium mine atmosphere are described. The unattached fraction is measured by using diffusion sampler and millipore filter combination. The distribution of attached activity is measured by using Andersen sampler. The radiolytic aerosols which are used for the studies have been found to be hygroscopic in nature. (B.G.W.)
