Facilities for synchrotron radiation science and accelerator based research at SLRI

Full-text:The Synchrotron Light Research Institute (SLRI) operates the Siam Photon Source, a 1.2 GeV synchrotron light source, located near the city of Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand. The institute operates the accelerator complex, synchrotron experimental stations and related facilities, giving services for academic and industrial users, both national and international. Synchrotron experimental stations, utilizing vacuum ultra violet, soft x-ray and x-ray, are now in routine operation for various measurement techniques, including x-ray scattering, photoemission spectroscopy, x-ray absorption spectroscopy, deep x-ray lithography and micro-beam x-ray fluorescence. Experimental stations for infra red spectro imaging, x-ray imaging, x-ray tomography and x-ray diffraction are now under construction. Research involving x-ray irradiation can also be carried out. In addition to synchrotron radiation, the electron accelerator complex can also provide high energy electron beam, giving an opportunity for various research such as electron irradiation and detector development. Details of the available facilities are given in the talk. Possibility collaboration and sharing of synchrotron, neutron and nuclear facilities in ASEAN countries are discussed. (author)
