Multiterawatt peak power generated by the all diode pumped laser. POLARIS

  • 1. Heimholtz Institute, Jena (Germany)
  • 2. Friedrich Schiller University, Jena (Germany). Inst. of Optics and Quantum Electronics

Description

Complete text of publication follows. We report on the design and construction of the fully diode pumped ultrahigh peak power laser system POLARIS at the Friedrich Schiller University and the Helmholtz Institut Jena, Germany. Presently, this laser system reaches a peak power of several tens of terawatt. The last amplifier, which will boost the output energy to the 100 J level, is nearly completed and will be soon commissioned. The applied technology and the basic design are reviewed.
