Description
The fuel handling system involves a set of four distinct machines operating simultaneously. These machines are operated remotely and the controls are sequential in nature and automatic. For the reactors at Rajasthan and Madras, the control system is based on hard wired logic. A computer based control system was developed for the subsequent reactors at Narora and Kakrapar. Since this was the first computer control application in a critical area in Indian Nuclear Power Plants, a phased development approach was followed. Experience gained from the development and operation of this system is being used for designing an advanced system for Rajasthan Atomic Power Station (RAPP)- 3 and 4 and Kaiga-1 and 2.
