111In-antimyosin antibody imaging for detection of myocardial infarction: a quantitative approach
- 1. Northwich Park Hospital, Harrow (UK)
Description
A prospective study was performed in 114 patients with suspected acute myocardial infarction using planar 111In-antimyosin imaging. A ratio of maximum myocardial uptake counts (H) (9x9 pixels) over adjacent lung background (L), i.e. H/L ratio, was obtained from 24 and 48 h images. This value was compared with peak creatine kinase (CK) enzyme and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF). There was good correlation between the H/L ratio and CK (r=0.76, P<0.0001) and moderate correlation with ejection fraction (r=-0.44, P<0.0001). This simple quantitative method may be useful for detection of acute myocardial infarction and for quantification of the extent of necrosis. (author)
