Magnetic circular dichroism: The ultimate test on wavefunctions
Description
This paper illustrates the power of magnetic circular dichroism in assigning crystal quantum numbers and wave functions to crystal field levels in lanthanide and actinide spectra. This answers a frequent question. The example of LaF3/Eu3+ is here considered. (orig.)
