On crystal structure of triclinic modification of potassium iodate
Description
Monocrystals of KIO3 have been studied. A triclinic symmetry has been established and an elementary cell has been determined; a=7.710, b=7.701, c=7.698 A . 29. A polar direction is the most specific feature: all trigonal pyramids are oriented with respect to their J-vertices in a direction parallel to [111]. The polarity is responsible for unique piezoelectric of the compound
