Forging and pressing of large parts for nuclear power plants

Description
A detailed description is presented of the manufacture of thick walled rings for the pressurizer body, the steam generator vessel and the elbows of the primary coolant circuit for WWER-440 and WWER-1000 reactors. These rings are forged from ingots weighing 110 tons and more, of 10GN2MFA steel. Also described is the manufacture of a large coneshaped ring for the protective pipe block built in the WWER-1000 internals. The said part is made by pressing from austenitic stainless steel 08Ch18Ni0T. The possibilities are outlined of the further improvement of production technologies, mainly aimed at labour saving, upgrading the quality of manufactured parts and metal saving, reducing the number of joints, which in turn leads to increased reliability and higher quality.
