Patient exposure to radiation in radiography

If requested, the radiologist is obliged to inform the patient on the radiation dose obtaining in an X-ray examination. Radiation doses may vary greatly. Application of up-to-date intensifying screens will considerably reduce radiation dose. The article presents tables on radiation entry dose and area dose product for all parts of the body. Abstract (German)

Der Roentgenologe ist verpflichtet, den Patienten ueber die Strahlendosis bei einer Roentgenuntersuchung aufzuklaeren, wenn dies gewuenscht wird. Die Strahlendosen koennen erheblich variieren. Der Einsatz von neuen Verstaerkerfolien reduziert die Strahlendosis erheblich. Strahleneintrittsdosis und Flaechendosisprodukt fuer alle Koerperteile sind tabellarisch dargestellt. (orig./HP)
