Description
Depending upon the position in the nuclear landscape and the physics interest, the level structure of nuclei are to be investigated using different probes and techniques. In the recent past, we have investigated the low-and medium-spin level structure of a few nuclei lying in and around the periphery of beta stability line using heterogeneous probes, followed by the conventional γ-spectroscopic techniques. Large arrays of gamma detectors have been utilized for these investigations. Level lifetimes, branching ratios, mixing ratios, DCO-ratios, polarization-asymmetry values, and transition rates have been extracted. From high statistics coincidence data, attempts were made to search for the very weak and low-energy gamma transitions connecting different bands. These transitions are often found to be missed out in the previous studies as the investigations were carried out using limited number of detectors. Since the transition-strengths vary inversely as the power (the value of the power is governed by the types of transitions, such as E2, M1, E1 etc) of the transition energy, investigations of these inter-linking weak decay branches are important for bringing out the comprehensive picture of the underlying issues associated with the nuclear level structure. Results from these investigations would be presented during the conference. (author)
