Stability criterion for Kelvin-Helmholtz mode in a cylindrical plasma
- 1. Tsukuba Univ., Ibaraki (Japan). Plasma Research Center
Description
The Kelvin-Helmholtz mode instability driven by an equilibrium radial electric field in a cold plasma is studied analytically for flute-type perturbation in cylindrical geometry. The growth rate and a threshold in the radial gradient scale length of the E x B drift frequency for instability are obtained. (author)
