The VIVITRON and its first results
Description
A presentation of the new electrostatic accelerator facility called the VIVITRON is given, following the starting period during which the first 16 experiments using EUROGAM have all been successfully completed. Special emphasize is put on new concepts used for the construction of the machine. The first preliminary results from EUROGAM experiments are shown together with the other equipment which will be used soon and which are mainly the outcome of European collaborations. The perspective for reaching 30 MV maximum voltage is discussed. (author). 7 refs., 10 figs
