Creep deformation characteristics of Cu-20% Nb composites
Description
Creep deformation and rupture of a Cu-20%Nb composite wire drawn to different reductions and subsequently annealed at 650 degrees C were studied at 500 degrees C, and compared with pure Cu. The results show that the presence of Nb increases the creep strength and rupture times considerably. The increase in strength and rupture times are enhanced with increasing draw ratio; however, this effect diminishes after a draw ratio of 6.9. In this paper these observed behaviors are discussed in terms of creep deformation mechanisms, fiber strengthening mechanisms and microstructural evolution during wire drawing process
