Synthesis of new elements within the fragmentation theory: application to Z=104 and 106 elements

  • 1. Joint Inst. for Nuclear Research, Dubna (USSR)
  • 2. Frankfurt Univ. (Germany, F.R.). Inst. fuer Theoretische Physik

Description

From a new point of view, the fragmentation theory is used to select out the projectile and target nuclei for the synthesis of superheavy elements. It is suggested to choose the partners of a reaction corresponding to the minima of the potential energy, calculated as a function of the mass and charge asymmetry coordinated. The theory is supported by the experiments already carried out, and also new experiments are suggested
