Mass spectra from the diffractive reactions pp→ ppπdeg and pp→pnπ+ at 28.5GeV/c

Description
The diffractive reactions pp→ppπdeg and pp→ pnπ+ were studied at 28.5GeV/c incident momentum with a MWPC experiment. Apparatus, typer, event recostruction and hypothesis separation are described. Mass spectra for the two reactions are presented; they show ample production of Nsup (*) (1470) and Nsup(*) (1688) together with a small Δ (1232) signal in the (nπ+) final state
