Accretion flows in binary X-ray systems

Creators

Description

The dynamics of accretion flows are discussed theoretically. Phenomena in the magnetospheres of neutron stars are examined: the rotation speed of the neutron star plays an essential part in determining the behaviour of the flow. The structure of accretion discs, particularly around black holes, is discussed. The dynamics of accretion from the stellar wind of an early-type supergiant are discussed, and the interaction between the accretion flow and the X-ray emission is discussed. (R.S.)
