position sensitive parallel plate avalanche detectors
Description
A transmission PS-PPAC with an active area 30 x 50 mm2 is constructed in a laboratory. It consists of two parallel electrodes. The spacing between anode and cathode is 3.5 mm. The position readout uses a tapped delay line. The position resolution obtained is 1 mm. Test measurements are performed at a pressure P = kPa of pentane gas. The best time resolution obtained is 620 ps (FWHM) for 241Am α particles
