Chemical resistance of steel 13CrV (RUS 13KhFA)

  • 1. Ufa State Petroleum Technological University, Ufa (Russian Federation)

Description

In recent years, the oil and gas pipelines for transportation of both conventional and hydrogen sulfide corrosive environments, including the Far North region, are made of low-alloy steels with a low content of chromium. For example, the flow lines are made of steel 13CrV in some oil and gas fields of the Russian Federation. In this paper we investigate the chemical resistance of this steel and analyse the experimental results. In the present paper, the effect of chloride ions dissolved in produced water on the chemical resistance of the steel 13CrV is determined, the nature of corrosion and the passivation tendency of the steel is examined and the sulfur content on the pipe wall is inspected using sulfur print. Keywords: steel, corrosion, polarization diagram, potential, sulfur print, chlorine ions.
