Atomization of magnesium in uranium-thorium using GF-AAS
- 1. Radiochemistry Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)
Description
Studies on the Mg atomization in U+Th matrix were carried out and the effect of matrix composition on the analyte absorbance was investigated using GF-AAS. These studies have shown that the absorbance signal observed for Mg in mixed matrix reduced as compared to that observed in matrix free solutions. Based on these investigations, analytical method was developed for direct determination of Mg in the range 50-800 ppm on the basis of 0.1 mg/mL (3%U+Th) solution. The significant suppression in the absorbance signal for Mg in the presence of matrix has also been discussed. (author)
