Electro-luminescent characteristics of ZnSe(Zn,O) crystals after irradiation in reactor

  • 1. Inst. Yadernoj Fiziki, Tashkent (Uzbekistan)

Description

Aim of the work is study of opportunity for improving of broad-zone crystals ZnSe(Zn,O) electro-luminescent characteristics in the result of gamma-irradiation for production of light structures. Part of each series samples were irradiated at 330 K in WWR-SM (10 MW) thermal column by mixed flow of gamma-rays and neutrons 6.5·1020 cm-2s-1 of fluences from 2·1016 to 1017 cm-2. Capture of thermal neutrons leads to radioactive isotopes formation of zink and selenium. Spectra of electroluminescence (EL) have been measured within range 200-900 nm at 300 K in the monochromator SPM-2. It is determined that EL maximum appearance in 600 nm in ZnSe(Zn,O) crystals spectrum is related with e-h-recombination in interstitial zink centers exited both the electric field and the secondary electrons shock excitation from gamma-rays. Recombination presumably taking place by barrier saturation mechanism. It is shown, that in ZnSe(Zn,O) samples one can to create of light-emitting structure with radiation in the yellow-orange band
