Detection of defects in Doel-3 reactor vessel
Creators
Description
An ultra-sound control of the cylindrical part of the 200 mm thick reactor vessel of the Doel-3 unit has revealed the presence of defects due to hydrogen (DDH). These defects originate in bad workmanship during the forging phase and generally are detected during fabrication tests. Controls are being made on about 10 reactor vessels that have been built by the same enterprise, the RDM Dutch group. (A.C.)
