Crack tip fields in elastic and elastic-plastic materials

Description

It is shown that the singular stress fields in the immediate vicinity of crack tips can be described by the method of finite elements. For that purpose calculations have been performed for simple crack geometries and model l loading conditions. Linear elastic and power law-creep behaviour is considered. The numerical FE-results agree well with analytic solutions which are known for these two classes of material on the condition that the vicinity of the crack tip is modelled by a sufficiently fine mesh. Abstract (German)

Es wird gezeigt, dass sich die singulaeren Spannungsfelder in der Naehe von Rissspitzen mit der Methode der Finiten Elemente (FE) beschreiben lassen. Dazu werden Rechnungen anhand einfacher Rissgeomtrien unter Modus-l-Belastung fuer linear elastisches Materialverhalten und Kriechen nach dem Norton-Gesetz durchgefuehrt. Die numerischen FE-Ergebnisse stimmen mit den fuer diese beiden Stoffgesetze vorliegenden bekannten analytischen Loesungen gut ueberein, sofern die Umgebung der Rissspitze hinreichend fein mit Elementen belegt wird.
