Description
An austenitic stainless steel 21-6-9, with improved cryogenic magnetic properties by manganese additions and strengthened mechanical properties by nitrogen additions, is currently being considered for critical components of various superconducting equipment, such as the bore tubes and flanges of superconducting magnets for magnetohydrodynamic generators. The mechanical and physical properties, as well as the microstructural stability between room temperature and liquid helium temperature, were studied
