Description

Samarium-153(T½ = 46.9 h, E(βmax) = 810 keV, Eγ = 103 keV (28.3%)) is the most widely used radionuclide in palliative treatment of bone pain arising due to skeletal metastases in the form of 153Sm-EDTMP. Taking into account the enhanced kinetic rigidity of lanthanide complexes of macrocyclic chelators, the present paper reports a comparative radiochemical evaluation of 153Sm-complexes of DOTMP and BPAMD, two macrocyclic phosphonic acid ligands with different framework toward their possible use in bone pain palliation as more promising alternative to existing 153Sm-EDTMP complex.
