- 1. Nauchno-Issledovatel'skij Onkologicheskij Inst., Moscow (USSR)
Description
Proceeding from the results of combined investigations (including clinical examination, x-ray examination, endoscopy with spot biopsy, morphological and cytological investigations) of 50 esophageal cancer patients (Tl, extent not more than 3 cm) it has been established that x-ray examination is one of the most effective methods of cancer recognition. The use of the correct methods and knowledge of roentgenosemiotics of different types of tumour growth, described in detail by the authors, contribute to the effectiveness of radiodiagnosis of these tumors. Small-size tumors can often infiltrate the esophageal muscular wall and even the adjacent organs, tissues and metastasize
