Ultrafast repair of single-strand DNA breaks in γ-irradiated Chinese hamster cells

Description
It was shown that some of the single-strand breaks in DNA cells of the Chinese hamster resulting from gamma irradiation are repaired during the irradiation process. Repair is more efficient under oxygen-deficient conditions at 220C. When the cells are irradiated in an oxygen-saturated medium, recovery during the irradiation process is not observed. (author)
