Description
Radiation induced graft copolymerization of methyl methacrylate onto gelatin (by means of γ irradiation) has been investigated. Grafting reaction was carried out in aqueous solution. Results of experments showed that the grafting percentage and the effciency of grafting increased with the increase of reaction temperature and reaction time at the first stage. But they dropped when the reaction temperature and reaction time exceeded some certain values. The molecular weight of grafted side chains in obtained copolymers was found to be as high as 105
