Chemical analysis of nuclear fuels
Description
The article gives a survey on the apparatuses and methods used at Karlsruhe Nuclear Research Centre for the analysis of nuclear fuels. The analytical tasks comprise the whole fuel cycle, from the analysis of unirradiated nuclear fuels to irradiated fuels and the chemical characterization of radioactive wastes. The reliability of the analytical findings - especially of the routine procedures - is often studied in international laboratory comparisons. This applies mostly to methods used in the fissile materials safeguard system. (RB/AK)
Abstract (German)
Der Artikel gibt eine Uebersicht ueber die im Kernforschungszentrum Karlsruhe vorhandenen apparativen Einrichtungen und angewandten Methoden zur Analyse von Kernbrennstoffen. Die analytischen Aufgaben umfassen den ganzen Bereich des Kernbrennstoffzyklusses angefangen von der Analyse unbestrahlter Kernbrennstoffe ueber die der bestrahlten Brennstoffe bis hin zur chemischen Charakterisierung radioaktiver Abfaelle. Die Verlaesslichkeit der Analysenergebnisse - speziell der Routineverfahren - wird in vielen Faellen einem internationalen Laboratoriumsvergleich unterzogen, was v.a. die zum Zwecke der Spaltstoff-Flusskontrolle herangezogenen Methoden betrifft.
