Cooling device for toroidal magnetic field coils

Description

Purpose: To enable connection works for the coolant-introducing hoses to coil conductors before assembling them by integrally providing a manifold for containing coolants to the reinforcing portion for toroidal magnetic field coils in a torus type thermonuclear device. Constitution: A manifold for containing coolants is secured to integrate with the reinforcing portion for the toroidal magnetic field coils to thereby eliminate the relative movement between them, and hoses for introducing the coolant from the manifold to each of the coils are connected. The manifold is connected by way of a connection pipe to main charge and discharge pipes. The coolants are distributed from the main charge pipe by way of the manifold and the hoses to each of the coil conductors and, after cooling the toroidal magnetic field coils, discharged to the main discharge pipe. Since the manifold and the toroidal magnetic field coils are secured integrally, hose connection works can be made to the individual coils before assembling them. (Moriyama, K.)
