Internal transfer of Cs 137 and K 40 in higher plants

Description

The root - aboveground part transfer factor and distribution of artificial Cs 137 and natural K 40 in the higher plants from the ecosystems of Ignalina NPP vicinity were estimated. Obtained data showed that distribution of Cs 137 in plant depends on the plant species and distribution of K 40 in it; as well as on the physicochemical form in which this radionuclide got into the environment. Results of this study can be applied in the future investigations or modelling of the internal transfer of Cs 137 in higher plants from natural and anthropogenic ecosystems. (authors)
