Nonlinear, relativistic Langmuir waves in astrophysical magnetospheres
Description
Nonlinear relativistic theory of travelling Langmuir waves in a cold plasma is studied. Large amplitude, eletrostatic plasma waves are relevant to physical processes occuring in astrophysical magnetospheres wherein charged particles are accelerated to relativistic energies by strong waves emitted by pulsars, quasars, or radio-galaxies. The cases of streaming electron plasma, electron-ion plasma and two-streams are discussed. (author)
Abstract (Portuguese)
(M.C.K.)Files
