Description

Based on an academic course, this book proposes an introduction to general relativity through an approach mainly based on geometry. In its different chapters, it addresses special relativity (from Galileo to special relativity), steps beyond Newton's theory (equivalence principle and its consequences, limitation of geodesic equations), geometry in curved space (tensor equation, Riemann tensor). It presents law and equations of general relativity, reports and comments observational tests and the success of general relativity. It addresses black holes (representation, formation, observations, properties, thermodynamic aspects, information paradox), cosmological aspects (metrics, constant, the first relativistic model of the universe, Hubble observations, Friedmann equations, adiabatic expansion, measurement of cosmological parameters), and thermodynamic aspects of the primordial universe. It finally presents primordial nucleosynthesis
