Framatome challenged by serial nuclear
Creators
Description
Whereas EDF wants to reach an unprecedented pace of reactor production, this article comments how Framatome (EDF's subsidiary) addresses this issue, notably through a reviewing of its methods, notably process standardization, plant certification, lean manufacturing, robotization, and digitization. These various aspects are evoked for different Framatome sites and plants. Some results of these evolutions are noticed, for example in terms of reduction of compliance shifts. The introduction of visual management tools on two sites is described. This also comprises daily meetings, quick problem resolution, and QRQC (quick response quality control) workshops. The introduction of new digital tools results in higher production rates, for example in the case of tube fabrication
