Description
Operational conditions of first wall materials of hybride and clean thermonuclear reactors determined with radiation and thermal physical processes in the reactors have been analyzed. Main causes of material degradation have been considered and critical phenomena limiting its service life are noted. For most reactor projects such phenomena turned out to be high-temperature radiation embrittlement, fatigue and surface erosion of structural materials. The conclusions are illustrated with examples of material choice for the first wall of thermonuclear reactors in some projects
