Description

We analyze the mechanisms of production of the exclusive final state p-barpπ+π- from data of a p-barp experiment at 32 GeV/c in the Mirabelle bubble chamber. We show that the main contribution is from quasi-two-particle processes of one-vertex diffraction dissociation p( p-bar)→/sub //sup p/( p)p( p-bar)π+Q gr- and pair production of the isobars Δ++approx.(Δ++). We show that the main characteristics of production of Δ++approx.(Δ++) are in good agreement with the predictions of the OPE model with absorption. We measure the cross sections for production of Δ++approx.(Δ++), Δ0(approx.(Δ0)), and rho0 mesons in events lying in various sectors of the LPS diagram and establish that the main source of production of these final states is the decay of diffraction-excited protons (antiprotons)
