Description

Twelve utilities of the VDEW operate nuclear power plants. They jointly developed a concept for the treatment of low-level and intermediate level radioactive waste from nuclear power plants. The two main goals of this concept are: Full-scale monitoring of wastes, from origin to ultimate disposaL. Extensive waste conditioning, i.e. treatment and packaging, of a plant's waste output by the operator on site. (orig./HSCH)

Abstract (German)

Zwoelf Mitgliedsunternehmen der VDEW betreiben Kernkraftwerke. Sie haben ein neues Konzept fuer die Behandlung schwach- und mittelaktiver Betriebsabfaelle aus Kernkraftwerken entwickelt. Es hat vorrangig zwei Ziele: Lueckenlose Kontrolle der Abfaelle von der Entstehung bis zum Endlager. Weitgehende Konditionierung, das heisst Behandlung und Verpackung der Betriebsabfaelle in Eigenregie am Kraftwerksstandort. Das verringert die Transporte und erhoeht die Transparenz. (orig./HSCH)
