Description

The paper presents a new portable uranium X-ray fluorescence analyzer and its application in uranium mine grade analysis. The analyzer consists of Si-PIN X-ray detector with electro-thermal cooler and a multi-channel MCA based on an embedded computer. The analyzer is about 2 kg weight. Based on the research on the excitation efficiency and matrix effect with different sources, 241Am isotope sources was finally chosen as the ideal excitation sources to analyze uranium, the analytical limit was setled for the element of uranium. The analyzer can provide a new technique and method for the future uranium mine prospecting and exploitation with several advantages such as light and easy to operate, etc. (authors)
