Results of 8th regular inspection of No.5 plant in Fukushima No.1 Nuclear Power Station, Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc

Description

The 8th regular inspection of No.5 plant in Fukushima No.1 Nuclear Power Station was carried out from September 5, 1987 to March 2, 1988. The parallel operation was resumed on February 4, 1988, 153 days after the parallel off. The facilities being the object of inspection were the reactor proper, reactor cooling system, measurement and control system, fuel facilities, radiation control facilities, waste facilities, reactor containment installation, and emergency power generation system. On the facilities being the object of inspection, the appearance, disassembling, leak, function, performance and other inspections were carried out, as the results, abnormality was not found at all. The works related to this regular inspection were accomplished within the range of allowable radiation dose based on the relevant laws. The main reconstruction works carried out during the period of this regular inspection were the use of new type 8 x 8 zirconium liner fuel assemblies, the installation of a filter for condensate before a condensate desalting facility, the new installation of radiation monitors, the repainting of the pressure control chamber of the reactor containment vessel and the repair of reactor containment vessel penetrations.
