Description
Depth profiles of deuterium in zirconium claddings were observed using the nuclear reaction D(3He,p)4He. The deuterium concentrations depended on the cooling rate just after the cladding absorbed deuterium at an elevated temperature. The thermal desorption spectroscopy (TDS) was also conducted. Most deuterium were desorbed at the temperature of 973K. It was found that the deuterium concentrations in the cladding could be known from the TDS measurement. (author)
