Model calculations of longitudinal currents and electric fields during the explosive phase of a magnetic bay

Description

Method of mathematical simulation was used to obtain longitudinal current variations and corresponding variations of magnetospheric conductivity, enabling to reproduce the observed behaviour of ionosphere and electric fields above the EISCAT unit of non-coherent scattering during magnetic bay on March, 25, 1987. It was revealed, that variations of magnetospheric conductivity during the explosive phase of a magnetic bay were characterized as the region of low integral electron content of plasma layer. 12 refs., 4 figs
