Operating results from German PWRs shown with the example of the GKN reactor

Consistent materials aging management for the entire technical equipment of the GKN-1 eventually achieved a sound basis for long-term operation. Through foresighted personnel management and planning, retired personnel could be replaced by young, highly qualified and motivated personnel, so that consistency and continuity of plant-specific knowledge and experience is ensured. With the start-up of GKN-2, an advanced, inter-unit operating control and management regime was introduced safeguarding a safety culture at high level. The management regime continues to utilize technical advancements in order to safeguard long-term, safe and economic operation of the two GKN reactor units. (orig.)
