Description
Kinetic equations are solved to find the equilibrium configurations of an electron--ion beam when the ion beam radius r/sub p/ exceeds the radius r/sub b/ of the electron beam and the overall system is neutral [E/sub r/(r = r/sub p/) = 0]. Analytic expressions are derived for the charge, current, and temperature distributions, and the equilibrium beam radius is found as a function of r/sub p/ and the degree of charge neutralization on the axis
