X-ray electron investigation of crystalline neogenic materials on melts of fuel-containing masses of the 4-th reactor of Chernobyl NPP
- 1. Rossijskij Nauchnyj Tsentr 'Kurchatovskij Inst.', Moscow (Russian Federation)
Description
Method of X-ray electron spectroscopy was used to study three samples of neogenic materials occurred on melts of fuel-containing masses at the 4-th reactor of Chernobyl NPP in the end of 1990. The following relative element content was established: U1Na69S9K1.5C11O88 (1), U1Na27S1C9O47 (2), U1Na10K1.5C6O39 (3). It was revealed that uranium was present in the samples in the form of U(6) and compounds were based on UO22+ uranyl group. Analyzed samples representahydrated binary salt of uranyl Na2SO4, Na2CO3, NaOH. Structure of U6+ ion surrounding is suggested and bond lengths in uranyl groups are determined. Depositions of these neogenic materials may grow without restriction in result of environment effect. 8 refs., 3 figs., 2 tabs
