Crystal field parameters and line widths for Tmsub(0.003)Lasub(0.997)Al2 in the normal and superconducting phase

Description
The single ion crystal field parameters and the crystal field groundstate of Tmsub(0.003)Lasub(0.997)Al2 are given. A nonmagnetic GAMMA1-groundstate and the crystal field parameters x = 0.72(1), W = 0.44(2) K. From the study of the line width of the GAMMA1 - GAMMA4 transition between T = 0.5 K and T = 40 K no clear influence was found of superconductivity and this is explained. An anomalously high coupling constant rho' = 0.060(5) between the magnetic moments and conduction electrons was found and also a high residual line width for the lowest temperatures. (author)
