Reconstruction of the broken Wigner SU(4) symmetry in heavy nuclei

Description

The problem of reconstructing the Wigner SU(4) symmetry in A > 60 nuclei is analysed basing on the experimental data on the nuclear masses. It is shown that the Wigner symmetry is reconstructed in medium and heavy nuclei along the stability line with increase of A and N-Z. The total table of isotopes is analysed up to A approximately 260. A qualitative picture is suggested to explain the reconstruction
