Material corrosion during thermal detoxitation of chemical wastes
Description
Corrosion of materials (carbon, chromium, chromium-nickel steels - st.3, 12Kh13, 15Kh5M, 12Kh18N10T, 10Kh17N13M2T,... alloys VT1-0, VT14KhN78T,...) has been investigated in apparatus of a semicommercial plant of a chamber type for combustion of industrial chemical wastes. The process temperature is 600-1000 deg C. Burned up wastes (solid or liquid) may contain chlorine, sulfur, nitrogen which results in evolution of aggressive gases including HClCl2SO2 nitrogen oxides during combustion. It is shown that during chemical waste combustion formation of aggressive media is possible in which metals commonly used as heat-proof metals in air and in water vapor are heavily attacked. During combustion of solid and pasty wastes, containing chlorine and nitrogen at 600-700 deg C most stable have proved to be the alloys KhN78T, 06KhN28MDT and 03KhN28MDT (corrosion rate is 0.05-0.4 g/m2h). During the combustion of liquid wastes, containing methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, dinitrochlorobenzene, sulfochloride, resins etc., at 600-1000 deg C corrosion value of all the materials tested is 2-10 times as great as in the previous case
